Floating between neo-soul and techno, Chasing Lights started as a jam containing irregular African beats and chords. Additional synths, samples and bass behave in a semi-frivolous manner, dancing off the grid, but the vocals complete the picture of an overall dreamlike structure that seduces the listener to pay attention again and again.
Genoveva Kachurkova is a Macedonian electronic musician, currently based in Skopje, working mainly as a vocalist and periodically as a producer. Her singing style moves between eerie ambient abstract vocals, influenced by eight years of vocal work with a Macedonian female church choir, and gentle soulful vocals from early childhood music influences including Faith Evans, SWV, and Cece Winans.
As well as incorporating Macedonian folklore signing into her work, in 2013 she released two EPs together with Macedonian producer Herzel, ("Herzel and Genoveva - No More Lies EP" and "Herzel and Genoveva - The Action of Staying") garnering support from Boddika, Joy Orbison and more.
Together with Tim Martin aka Maps and Diagrams, she is part of the ambient music duo Bluhm. She collaborates with artists in a variety of genres from ambient to dub techno, experimental hip-hop to electronica. After a break from music to work as a full-time painter, she now returns with her first solo EP as Genoveva, Chasing Lights, a project inspired and initiated by fellow Macedonian musician Dimitar Dodovski.
